Hundreds to attend annual Third Grade Ag Day

  Vinton – Approximately 270 Benton County Third Grade students and their teachers, will converge on the Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton, Wednesday, April 28th from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30p.m. for a day on "the farm".   Iowa State University Extension and Benton County Farm Bureau in conjunction with the Benton County livestock and crop commodity groups and the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA will host the Third Grade students for the day, providing them information how agriculture affects their daily lives.

Internet safety expert to speak in Vinton, April 29

Mike Ferjak, a criminal investigator with the Department of Justice, will speak on the topic of internet safety from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at Blessed Hope Church. The public is invited to come learn more about how to protect children from on-line predators.

Bike Safety Rodeo May 4th

A special event just for kids will be held at the Vinton Recreation Center Parking Lot.   The Bike Rodeo will saddle up  on Tuesday, May 4th (Rain date will be the 5th) beginning at 5 p.m. The event will include bicycle safety checks, riding a safety course, and getting a new I.D. tag! PEO Chapter MZ

The local PEO Chapter MZ will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Monday April 26th at the home of Dola Hilmer, assisted by Dona Merchant, Dawn Larson will present the program.

Help the 4-H clubs with a donation

 During the month of April, with a quick text message Iowans can vote for 4-H, make a $10 donation and increase the chances that Iowa 4-H will receive a $5,000 bonus from JCPenney to support 4-H youth development programs throughout the state. It’s all part of the national 4-H Give2Vote Challenge, said Shelly Greving with the Iowa 4-H Foundation.

Urbana Christian Church to hold supper on April 24th

The Urbana Christian Church will hold a Swiss Steak Supper from 4p.m. until they are finished on Saturday April 24th. Included in the meal will be a salad and dessert bar. Adults $7.00, Children under 10 $4.00, Preschool aged children are free!

Vinton TTT to hold 2nd Annual Charity golf tournament

The local TTT chapter will be holding a Ladies Two-Person Best Shot Gold Tournament on Tuesday June 22.  Shotgun starts at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.  The cost is $25 per golfer, cash flight prizes.  Dinner will be served in the clubhouse following each round.  Register at the Vinton Country Club 314 9th Ave. Vinton, or call 319-472-4052, e-mail vcc@mebbs.

Early Arts Study Club to meet

The Early Arts Study Club will be meeting at the home of Barbara Fuchs, 1010 Golf View Dr., Vinton, on Monday April 19th at 2 p.m. Becky Primus will be presenting a program on the topic of "Silhouettes" Anyone is welcome to attend.
